Livestation now enables viewers to add their own choice of channels.
08 July 2008
Livestation, the global online broadcast platform which offers live 24x7 news channels in high-quality, free of charge, has announced that viewers can now customise their watching experience by adding their own choice of channels.
Livestation viewers can now add any TV, radio or even webcam streams to their Livestation account for easy access. These channels can also be watched directly inside the award-winning Livestation player alongside the high-quality news channels offered already to all viewers and provided in partnership with some of the leading international news networks.
According to Matteo Berlucchi, Livestation's CEO, this new and innovative feature provides dramatic benefits for both viewers and broadcasters.
"By allowing viewers to add their favourite channels to our current line up of flag-ship news channels, we are giving them unlimited choice and control while also helping us determine which broadcasters our viewers want added to the Livestation service in the future."
"We plan to work closely with the owners of channels that will prove the most popular in order to bring them on to the Livestation platform so that viewers will be able to enjoy the higher-quality and interactive features that the full Livestation experience offers to our current partner broadcasters."
"For broadcasters, it will provide an excellent opportunity to assess viewer demand so that they can then respond as they see fit. We will then work with the broadcasters to maximise the new found opportunities," he said.
As part of this new feature, Livestation viewers will also be able to browse through all of the channels other viewers have stored via a dedicated section on the Livestation website.
Livestation works in close partnership with broadcasters in order to deliver the highest-quality user experience, not only in terms of the visual impact of the video, but also in terms of interactive features, including the electronic programme guide (EPG), links to related content on the broadcaster's website, and news alerts.
Livestation channels currently include Al Jazeera, BBC World News, Bloomberg Television, EuroNews (English, French, Italian and Spanish), France 24, i>Tele, Russia Today and BBC World Service.
